CHILDREN’S TAP

Tap dance is one of the most enjoyable and rhythmic forms of recreational dance.  It is great for promoting co-ordination, an innate sense of rhythm and for strengthening and loosening foot, ankle and leg muscles.

Tap is a good choice of dance style for all age groups.  Younger pupils find great delight in being able to dance and make noise at the same time.  More advanced pupils are challenged to achieve and perform technically complex steps and rhythms, which can be extremely satisfying.

The I.S.T.D. syllabus is designed to instil good rhythm, style and technique.  Children and students are encouraged to grasp a sound basic technique from an early age, combined with an understanding of co-ordination, tonal quality and rhythmical interpretation.
